Cap's Inspiration
Mrs. Boss at the Silo at Barrow. Such a fun impromptu stop. We also took a walk earlier in the afternoon, so we're both dressed a little wild for the day! She wanted to take my picture, but I looked even more out-there than she did! :)
It's nice to have this photo for a design reference, since it's basically the direction for the new bathroom. Our largest unknown at this point is materials that will be used for ceiling and walls, but also, we've got a grand idea for the file floor of the shower, if we can find what we're looking for. We're probably going to play more with the cinnamon glass and sapphire diamonds in the room's colors than the bottle green. We don't want to look too Christmas-ish! Stay tuned. As soon as project 'chapel recovery' is finished, Senior Clemente will be back at creating beauty and functionality in the new space!
And this one is obviously titled, "But Y?". I bought this puzzle to use for tracing/stencilling projects at the dollar store and could find the 'y' yesterday. I think Tulip thought it was a marshmallow treat of some kind, but she didn't destroy it too badly. I've used the set once, but figure some wonderful stenciling/stamping project one of these days will certainly call for it!
Found this relic under the bed yesterday during furniture rearrangement. Kind of a bittersweet moment, since I loved this job like no other, but also am glad I don't do it anymore. This bag was a gift from my Chief of Police and his wife. Wow......before the Cap was The Cap, even! I'm always grateful I had the chance to live this dream behind the badge while I could and am still proud to be a cop from a cop family!
Well, I personally love the acid green color, even at Christmas. This little ordeal was a total cluster, however. I may never dip another caramel apple again. It took forever, was crazy messy, and I didn't care for the finished product. Those who had them at book club said they were great, but now I know why N-M used to charge $15-$25 per apple for Mrs. Prindable's Caramel Apples. Worth the money! :)
Well, this has kind of a clustery, WTH kind of feel to it? This is back stage at "Bruce Christmas Photo Shoot '21" with a great cast of characters. Some of it was done on the porch, and some over in the woodpile. ....This was clearly the woodpile portion of the program. The funny thing is that usually in our climate, we take Christmas photos when it's an unseasonable 94 degrees and try to look festive and toasty. This day was actually blustery AND a bit chilly, so it was kind of like the real deal!
Ok, I know this is wedding related, but it's also Sarah and Otto related.......so it fits. We tore.it.up with our signature dance at their wedding. I still think it was odd that I brought the 'road trip' sign out, but we were talking about marriage being one, big road trip, and it just kinda happened! Great day and GREAT fun!
Ok, you know you're officially getting older when you get excited when a cardinal gets in your birdbath by Jesus! I thought this was kind of a cool shot, and the bird is actually looking right at me, I think! Very cool.
One of the most moderately attractive, yet most photogenic dog we've probably every had in the family. Shelby Mae is at home on land or sea, but actually a bit quieter at sea, overall. This shot is amazing, since she's the all-American German and Mexican Chi! There'll be at least one more shot from this pose on the blog in the coming days, since it was like Lagerfeld released his fall collection during this shoot. Shutters on 3-4 cameras were going like crazy! Rock that towel, Shelbs!
Based on the file address of this photo, I'm thinking Sarah took it. This is the BEST photo I've ever seen of Ena (Bobina). She's so lifelike! LOL. She's not bad at photos, but nobody beats The Shelbs for ham-sammich camera-ready go-live. We sure love our little Ena, and life can't be easy when you're blue healer and chichi. At least we don't nip everyone as much as we used to. (new training collar already coming in the mail, too). Don't forget her jingle....she hears it at least one time a day.... "Ena Bobina.....The patio Bobina". Ok, I know it doesn't make any sense, but you sing it to the patio burrito jingle from the 80's. Give it a try. :)
And here's your loveboat crew for today. Captain Captain, and Cruise Director - Mrs. Boss. Asa did a relatively good job of spotting for his siblings and step mother, and Chad and I were able to discuss politics and who the best and WORST presidents of our lifetime have been. We agreed on both! Woooohoooo!
Here are 3 party poodles afloat during this week's midweek dinner cruise! Such great weather, and Denise and I told each other we were amazed by the rain this summer. We got chased off the lake and packed up just in time not to get soaked at least twice, but hadn't really gotten caught in the rain out on the water. Hopefully, we can keep that record going.
These two hadn't ridden the tube together since we got it, so they finally got to cruise last evening. Clearly, Chloe had a horrible time on the boat yesterday. LOL! She left the struggle bus in the parking lot and enjoyed her time afloat for sure! It was the darkest end time we've had all year, and was pretty much d.a.r.k. when we finished. Good times. Thank you, God!
And a happy Tropical Storm Fred good morning to you............this is Mrs. Boss with the breakfast report from Seagrove Beach! Well, actually Fred never got much worse than this for us, and it passed directly over us, so there you go. I think the beach is beautiful in virtually any weather, so sunshine or clouds, it's a sight to see! I love the fact that Mrs. Boss is wearing the shirt she got at the same location years before! A classic never goes out of style!
Thought this turned out kinda neat, and hadn't really seen it on my camera until this morning. This is a shot from East of Sugar Dunes toward our beach and One Seagrove Place in the distance. Love the birdie placement, shore shimmer and the little bit of color on the sky in the very left as the day winds to a close. This looks to be 8/16/21 from what the camera says..........
I'm not really sure what's going on in this picture, but I think this guy might be singing or yelling at some kid to get off his lawn. I do know that's quite a bit of daytime jewelry for the beach, however. The fun thing is that on day 3 of the trip, I found a lucky penny on the sandbar RIGHT IN FRONT of the 3 story beach house on the right in the photo. I immediately saw it as a sign that I should check to see if it was for sale, and it was an omen to purchase. When we walked back for lunch, the house in question was not for sale. Every time I even THINK to purchase beachfront property in Florida, they get hit with a hurricane. There's the omen. yikes.
....But can you see why we don't get tired of this place. Contemplation. Relaxation. Sand. Surf. Laziness. It's got it all.
Now there's clearly sage wisdom being spouted here! Ronny and I on the beach at Seagrove. I just can't sit in the sand like the other 3 of them do, it makes me crazy with the sand in my pants! :O Still lovin' on those pink solo cups. Definitely need some for the boat!
Is it just me, or does this pic have a really cool, vintage and surreal vibe going on? This is our favorite beach in FL, and I'm totally digging the hint of movement in the shot as well as the greens and blues working together. Random shots of real life from our time there like this are just another reason why we love it there so much. Thank you, 30-A!
Love trying new places that are a bit off the beaten track AND not a chain! We lunched at a very special spot in Waveland, Mississippi, and it was great! Ronny had the best looking gumbo of the trip, and Denise and I had Patton's sausage patties (made in Bogalusa, Louisiana - exclusively). The Patton patties were better for Mrs. Boss than I, but I thought they were excellent, and probably will be ordering some online at some point. Way cajun, way seasoned! Viva small-town mom & pop's who have survived the crapfest of '20/'21!
One of the things we like most about the RV weekends is the reading, walking and relaxing it provides. Looking forward to our next RV adventure to a park we've never been to before!
The girls got a new sunning-mat for their camping adventures and tried it out last weekend. Worked ok, and it kept them from being on the ground. They don't really seem to mind being on the 'string' outside, since they're together, and we're right there. We do have the "Stalag 13" portable corral, but Mrs. Bobina can jump that thing like there's no tomorrow, so then we have to put the bright orange construction mesh over the top that Mike Grant gave us, and by then, we pretty much look like the Beverly Ho-billies, so this works well.
Have not been out to look at the markets today. That's happening right after I publish today's blog entries. It's been a little more see-saw-ish lately, which I think is actually good, and a little less creepy than the flat line it's pretty much been since the election. The company to be invested in right now is any one of them that sells ALLERGY meds! I think you could make a killing! We'll see how the old WTI and a few other things are rolling this morning. Have a happy and p.r.o.f.i.t.a.b.l.e day!
I love my Captain Awesome travel cup/wine dispenser/boat glass/coffee mug/lemon ginger tonic holder. Griselda and Greg got me this outstanding accessory for my birthday last year (I think?) and I really, really like it. I think this is only the second or third time I've gotten to actually use it, but it's just so danged cool!
A little fuzzy here, but we actually were, so the camera doesn't lie! Mary surprised us after dinner and Wineopoly and said, "let's take a drive", so we took the Lincoln into town and stopped at barrow for a beverage. Such improptu fun, and it would be hard to have provided a better 75th birthday experience! Happy Birthday, Mare!
We've never denied that our grooms are not the special-est out there! I don't even know why this love fest was going on, but both of these grooms seem to really be enjoying it! Too funny...........I usually just post wedding related photos on the chapel FB page, but this crazy shot of Mike and John, center stage, certainly deserved a blog cameo! LOL
Here's a fun shot from last year's vacation adventure afloat! This photo turned out so nicely of the 4 of us, and I think this might have been Denise's birthday night, but am not sure.

Who's the swingin'est cat in town when the flurries start to fly? (Can you not just HEAR Frank Sinatra sing that musical question?) Well, our very own Mr. Sinatra was none too happy about being left out of the garage during the storm, BUT when we told him he was starring in his very own Winter Wonderland Holiday Special on NBC, (7p est., 8p cst) he was all about making it magical for the fans. While the snow is over, "His love is here to stay". Thanks, Frank. Ladies and gentlemen, the Chairman of the Boardddddddd..................................

This is a super excellent gift from Sheri this Christmas, and we're going to begin working with it this week. The chef from the Bush ranch near Crawford has written this book, and everything in here looks amazing. One of the base recipes that gets used in lots of the other dishes is their signature salsa, so that's going to be created this week, God willing, and we'll see how it goes. I'm not a fan of really spicy stuff, so hopefully the peppers from our garden that originally came from Brian and Noelle's garden won't fry my mouth! Stay tuned!

Another wonderfully blurred selfie evening of blurry fun! :) Our annual holiday special "Christmas with the Cashions" on the CaliberOak Network, was a location shoot this year, as the fun 4some took Christmas on the road in our two wonderful travel trailers. The photo here is right after gift exchange, and Cindy is wearing her ribbons, which is usually in the plan! Such a great visit with them in a new and mobile way!

You simply have to have a cute little thing like this under a dome on your tree. lol. It's really sweet, and the building has elements of both our house and the chapel in it, so it's just right. Special addition to Christmas, 2020!
We're getting co-ffffeeee in Color-aaaaado.....
|
Mr. Sinatra may not be scheduled for the next 2 roadtrips, but that doesn't mean he's not ready. When we got the car from Rick and Pam, the AAA sticker was prominent. Since we were afraid to take it off lest we damage the bumper, we started on a quest for a new one. Clearly, we found it. Just one more, small, creative sticker just under the new one, and we'll be fully customized! A Texas Lincoln is a happy Lincoln!
|
For the first time, I just realized that the large manatee in the right hand side of this photograph was there! I'm thinking encouraging or mocking (not sure) while Mr. Sinatra had a well-deserved pit stop for a fresh new battery. If you gotta get a new battery, do it at the BEACH at Jensen's, because the view is way better than at the Belton Walmart. Well played, Chairman of the Board......
What a fab.a.mundo photo of the Salado Trio at a recent gig in Waco! They're such a great team and very easy to suggest for weddings and other events. They go all over the place and are very affordable in the live music category. Viva Salado Trio and play on!
A cute little book club group dressed in costume and some in character for "The Guest List" discussion and fun. The action of the book was set at a wedding reception, so we created our own! A genuinely fun group that's not afraid to get after it in the theme department! We're blessed to have this team to play with!
Can you say, 'color coordinated'? This is Mrs. Boss on the Left Bank of Salado Creek for Sirena MarketFest 2020. Two of her color-keyed General Motors (Mark of Excellence!) lovelies are resting beside her, loyally. Everything in place for the excellent festival that began only moments after this photo was taken.
This is a strange 'photo of a photo op' from our recent picnic. Mrs. Boss is setting the pokey little puppy glasses on the dashboard so that I can take a picture. Kind of a behind.the.scenes kinda thing. I know one old man who needs a major haircut major badly. Thankfully, rumor has it, a certain long-distance walker is bringing her skizzors to the main house tomorrow evening for just such a cleanup. Let us pray!
Christina recommended this, since Jacob takes it, and I think it's crazy excellent for my digestion. Everything I'm reading about it is positive. I just need to get a bigger bottle!

Yeah, yeah, yeah...........there's an awful lot of Shelby and EmmyLou on the blog over the last month. Whatever. This was a great shot from the evening before SirenaMarketFest2020 when we were prepping the two mermobiles for the festivities. Shelby at the wheel, and that wheel (I just noticed this morning) certainly has kind of a 101 Dalmatians theme going on, doesn't it?
Getting excited about another great trip to this wonderful park. Every sunrise there seems just amazing, and it's also amazing how many sunrises we get to see there! Camping gets us up earlier than other things, for sure! :)
I call this one, "Old watches lazing in the sunshine" .........kind of a weird photo, but I love the watch on top and it caught my eye so I took a picture! :)
It's always a good thing when photos continue to make you think of a song in your head when you look at them. The retro feel and fun of this excellent SirenaMarket shot certainly makes me think of Ray Benson singing, "Miles and Miles of Texas", which is one of my favorites. Miss EmmyLou really earned her petrol during this event, and added so much fun and sparkle to the festivities!

So....Shelby went to Dr. Otto to see how she would look with a little work done. Gentle neck lift, ear perking, turkey-neck reduction. This was basically the simulation of the result after her procedures would have been done, and she decided against it. "Even though I look a bit thinner in the jowls and the ears are nice, I'm thinking my lipline still leaves me looking like a thug", Shelby stated.
I still have an excellent saddle for sale. I put it out on FB Marketplace and could have probably sold it 3 times over, but didn't follow up like I should have. $650, and Chris Carpenter thinks that's a very fair price. Holler at me if you want it... Or maybe you know someone who needs one? Mrs. Boss says it's time to clear out the potting shed.....
A public service announcement from Jolene and her scouts. This annual extravaganza is coming to a chapel near you very soon, so save your pennies, dimes and quarters so that the Girl Scouts can profit from your thrift! I know we'll be doing a larger order than usual, since the C@TC group meets here each Sunday, and what an easy offering when you don't have time to make something else! If you need to fix your GSCookie fix, let us know at [email protected] and we'll put you in touch with the Scoutmaster and get those baked wonders closer to yer belly! :)
Wrapped my first Christmas gift of the season last night, which kind of put me more in the holiday mood! Love this wrapping paper, and it's it was still in the house and all the other stuff is in a mystery bin I can't find in the potting shed attic, I'm thinking this may be paper we ordered from Prestyn's school fundraiser? I'm not sure, but it's neat!
Some people get all posh and snobby when they start driving their first Cadillac convertible. Really, Shelby. That's quite the snob-fest you've got going on there. Let's not look down upon other dogs in their Buicks, shall we?
Our friend the talking codfish here is trying to look as unattractive as possible, but it's too late. We're on to him! The cod from Impossible Foods was amazingly well priced and crazy excellent. Garlic, butter, and a bit of herb made all the morsels go away very quickly! Thanks, Senior Codfish. Your sacrifice was worth it! :)
C'mon in, the avocado is just fine! Imperfect Foods served up some good product! We're lovin' it!

Not so sure I ever put this one out on the blog from this summer, and it's not bad at all. We're at the Continental Divide in Colorado, which is one of our favorite places because of the topography, and probably because it's so much closer to God! :) It was a bit nippy up there, and you can kind of tell. Beautiful day and lovely drive.

Since our book club is verrrrrrrrrrry private and extreeeeemly selective, this is a rare public photo of the Motleys at play. It was our annual Christmas p.j. gift exchange meeting, and we had a great time! It looks like Beth is wearing a blush mink coat in this photo, but no animals were harmed in the production of this shot. Ok, maybe some suede animals, but that's about it. We were so blessed to get great books and have the Bean's host at their very gracious home!
This is just the kind of tremendous shot that's fun to look at on a chilly December day. This was actually taken on April 16 of this year, and really shows off the blooms of the Belinda's Dream roses at the chapel. Always such a great weekend when a bride's wedding day coincides with the peak of the chapel roses. I guess mid-April is a good time!
Sarah under power! This year has been such a delight with the boat, and we're so glad Sarah and Otto were with us last weekend for emergency trailer repairs! Fun times on the lake!
This is an interesting shot of Jolene's computer with the proofs from their photo shoot at the chapel on the screen. I love the high-def quality of this, and it looks like a still shot from an upcoming commercial for an upscale housing development! :) Love the way EmmyLou is peaking out from behind, too!

Maybe a little lake floating this weekend? Thankfully, our boat is a bit more comfy than this one. This one is way cooler looking, but I don't think it'd be all that relaxing? :)
This is "The Shelbs" only seconds after doing the math and realizing that she can't possibly steer and reach the pedals on Bluebike. I'm not saying a rear wheel doggy-carrying saddlebag with a view is out of the question, just not very likely. She perked right up after this shot, however, with a happy memory of stealing cookies.
I kind of like the way the sky is rather dusky and ethereal here. Fun day at Longhorn Cavern State Park with Sarah doing the photo honors. Love our picnic banner, and it was perfect weather as well. Already set for our next picnic adventure. Email us at [email protected] or shoot us a text at 254.718.0680 if you wanna join us! Wooohooo....the more the merrier!
Up close and personal with the top of the sewing table. Loving that 'barbie rug' background stencil, and the daisy stencil placement by Mrs. Boss. The colors, feel and festivity of the whole thing is great. I love our look in our life! (oh the really white weird part near the upper middle is actually the sun reflecting off the limpid pools of polyurethane below..... Sparkly!)
Seemed only appropriate to celebrate season 9 of "Call the Midwife" with a nice pot of lemon tea with milk. Cozy, tasty and oh so English.
I don't know if this is for real or not, but I totally need it. The article listed it for sale in Florida for $400,000. Go. Fund. Me., people! Is this not the bomb-floating-diggity?!?!?!
Tea towel alert.... This was a tremendous gift from Mrs. Boss that I accidentally opened yesterday since it came late for my birthday. I absolutely love it, and it might even encourage me to dry some dishes from time to time! Nah, but it certainly is mighty cool. Love IT!
"Oh, the treasures you can find in a junkyard". That's an approximation from a line of dialog from "All About Eve", but it also applies here! Yesterday, we were golf carting to the store and passed this chair on the curb in the Country Club. Well, we turned around, and snagged it, thinking it would be neat with a plant on it or something. Well, when we got it home, it turned out to be in perfectly serviceable shape, so all it needs is a coat of fusion paint and a new cushion! Also picked up a dresser in front of another house. Definitely rocked the Beverly Hoebillies vibe, for sure. :)

We have actually taken worse selfies than this one as a foursome! Here we are on Oakridge for a great supper evening that was long overdue. As always, the food, company and laughter were excellent! We are blessed to have Ann and Ronny in our lives!
Totally loved my incognito 'red patriot' ensemble for early voting day! It felt so good to vote, and we were glad to get it done. We shall see what the next few months bring. Lock 'n load, people!

So, the rosemary infusion seems to be a theme of 2020. Not only do we love it, but it has a sort of mystical, relaxing quality to it. Jolene felt the same way, and is going to do 2 infusions of her own, and Brandie got to try some of the herbal elixr last night, and reported a tremendous night's sleep. Be sure to get your very own bottle of "Dr. Thomssen's Restorative Herbal Elixr". Available at the Caliber Oak Dispensary. No phone orders, please.

Even with Acorn.tv's buffering problems, this series is worth searching out. I'm sure it's for sale online somewhere, and possibly may be available on another network. The buffering problem from acorn is strange, as some browsers have a harder time with it than others, and if you watch it on your trusty android mobile device, it works fine. Definitely worth the effort, however.
I don't know who this lady is, or how she got in our hot tub, but I didn't want to be rude, since it looked like she was having a great time. I brought her a wine. LOL
Did someone just open a crack-a-lacka celophane bag of something delicious that should be shared? hmmmmmm?

My excellent life
The Lincoln drives so smoothly, apparently you can even nap at 80 mph. Now that's luxury! Um, time to wakey, wakey, there, Dr. Steg! :P

It's tough for me to think pic-a-nic basket without thinking of Yogi, since we're about the same age! Well, there's a plan afoot to head to Longhorn Cavern State Park for a day-picnic in one of the older cars. Still in the planning stages. We've got a pretty firm date picked out in October and hopefully 2 that can join us. There's probably going to be room for 1-2 more picnic-ers to join in the adventure, if you're interested in that sort of thing. Hey, Boo-Boo, justletusknow!
Holler back.
I'm an absolute novice at having a web spot and a non-business related blog. I feel like this is the only way I can effectively connect with people that I know and love. I hope my words make sense, and hope you'll holler back. If you're a real CapFan, you know how important that is. ;) Hit me up with a text at 254 718 0680 or at [email protected] I'd love to hear what you think about the blog. I'm lovin' it! :)
