About Me: Diggin' Dr. Matt big time. Great visit!
I already posted a photo of this arrangement for Griselda yesterday, but this is from a different angle. Really like how the flowers look, so I thought I'd share it again. Zinnias are starting to really shine, and everything looks so lush after the rain. I'm thinking we're getting a little more rain this week, so we'll see how that goes! No complaints here!
Since this part of the blog is supposed to be "about me", I'll start doing it a bit more that way. I like meeting new people, like Andrea - the newish Tourism Director, and showing off our chapel! That's about me!
You know you're in the coolest book club in North America when one of the members comes in dressed as a character from that months' book with a weapon very, very similar to this tucked in his britches, talking like a hillbilly. It was all part of the fun last night as we roasted and toasted "Under A Guilded Moon". Not the best book we've read, but it had its moments. Don't forget, book club membership is available for $0.00 to charming, literate, relatively well mannered, wine swilling folk who enjoy a good time. Let us know, and we'll get you on the list. [email protected] The best part of this book club is that despite the weapon pictured above being used as a character prop, there were approximately 6-7 fully functional weapons out of sight and at the ready to defend life and liberty if needed. Don't you just LOVE the second amendment! It lets you eat buttercream book cake in peace!
Total fun in the sun, and a pretty decent selfie, I might add! I just don't have the skillset for it, but thankfully, others do! Rick Gibbs had successful surgery 2 days after this shot, so we're hoping he'll be back aboard ship around the August/September timeframe. In the meantime..............clear weather and a functional impeller pump! Praise Hiim!
...and here's where he rambles on.........
Don't you just love it when a mystery gets solved?!?!?!? This game was a gift from Sheri for Christmas this year, and we love it! We played it just a bit with somebody, and then had it out for the RV Cashion Christmas at Stillhouse when a whole bunch of folks were over and played it with the Vanderpools. After that night............GONE Completely GONE! We looked in the RV, we looked at home, we looked at the chapel. Mrs. Boss finally decided that it accidentally got put up with the Christmas decorations in the attic. This weekend, we finished playing cards and she shouted with excitement when she found it under a book on her dresser! We can't wait to play it, since it's educational and fun!
Still from a scary angle (4.1.21), but effectively gets the message across that bluebike and I are on the move these days. This was taken from our 1 year anniversary ride together, and we're up to 610 miles together at this point. May need to go to a shearling seatcover soon, and Christina has coached me on what expensive, padded underwear to utilize for the rides, but sore bum be damned! We're pedaling ahead! Here's to our next 100 miles together, Blue!
Yearbook Photo

Ok, yeah, this picture is pretty blurry, but to be honest, so were at least 3 of the subjects in the photograph! This was taken the night before Denise's birthday in Alpine in the RV and we had a rousing good time as always. The roulette wheel was the best $19 I've spent in a long time, and we really have enjoyed it for hours! (It's also cheaper than losing at LCR!)
So this was the absolute bomb.com this morning! What a way to start the day. Give Beth a call...you won't be sorry!
Well, these won't be needed for the next two scheduled road trips, but they're always at the ready for fun and adventure. For us, there's nothing that beats the vibe, feel and whimsy of vintage luggage pieces. The places they've been, the things they've seen. Certainly a nod to a more elegant and classy time of travel. Whenever we're in a car-trip mode, they come along. Happily, in the RV, we have our own closets! Wow! Travel on, Samsonite!

Let us know if you need the wise skills of Jamie Sanderford for all your electrical needs. Honest, dependable, and Irish! You can't go wrong! :)
Love a nice, serene water picture. Relaxing, right?
I love meeting with brides and grooms to do the vows for the biggest part of the biggest day in their lives. I've even gotten to do it like our friend here twice! (at least for the opening line! :))
Well, we'll have NONE of this today, thank you! It's kind of funny, though, and certainly brings a new twist on the old phrase of 'falling in love'. Our brides and grooms are better balanced than these two!
Such beauty, and an excellent reminder that sometimes you learn the hard way. I've never been a Texas Gulf Coast fan, and still am not in love with it. However, when I see this amazing image, I'm reminded of how uninspiring the beach was that we visited recently, and while neither one are winter-half of the year destinations, the beach time left to us should be reserved for a slice of heaven between Destin and PCB. Again, live and learn. Reminded that Texas IS the better place to be (except for the Redneck Riviera in season :))

First fire of the 2020/2021 winter season. This picture is kind of neat, since it looks like the fire part is the portal to another dimension? Weird!

My current new groove for intestinal happiness, and I can see where it would work. We'll keep you posted. Allegedly helps digestion, elimination, skin tone and makes your liver sparkly clean. We'll see. Behold the power of lemon. (well, not exactly "Behold", since that's a lemon furniture polish, but you get the drift....)

I will say.............if cats would really do this, I might have a use for them (sorry, I'm a dog person as most of you know....allergies and all...). In lieu of a not-gonna-happen cat massage, be sure to check out Beth Vanderpool's service in your own home. Hit me up for details. She truly is....wait for it.....the cat's meow. LOL! I slay me!

Nothing calms me and centers me like The Rosary. I truly believe everyone can benefit from these prayers, Catholic or not, and the comfort that the physicality of the prayer motion, supplication and repetition provide is irreplaceable. Just having the Rosary with me makes all the difference during difficult times. Especially when I don't feel well or am in a difficult situation. If you see me with my beads on a flight, I suggest you grab yours too to avoid turbulence of any kind! :)
Not too shabby at all and now we're ready in the tree department for our Christmas wedding! So looking forward to it. I love the simplicity, contemplation and spirituality of no ornaments and just a star. Who knows what it will look like between the wedding and Christmas Day, but probably not much different than this. It's beginning to look a little like Christ-mas!

This lovely bit of designer goods comes from no other than the fabulous Ross Howard Designs in Dallas, Texas! Colin is always so generous with the goods, and they never go to waste around here! This particular piece has replaced the window covering on the attic window in the potting shed. The other fabric had literally disintegrated, and this (according to Mrs. Boss) looks amazing up there. I haven't seen it yet, but know I'll love it. We may need to keep the hatch to that end of the attic open with the chandelier on so that the light shines through it for nighttime spa sessions! (what? You don't have a chandelier in your potting shed/laundry room? heathern.) :)
Well, if one gif could sum up our book club, this would probably be it. We have a one-mulligan rule about not finishing the book, so everyone takes that part pretty seriously. After that it's all wine, egg nog and stuffing ourselves as we talk BOOKS!
Now doesn't THIS look like a tantalizing good time on the Colorado River? I don't have to buy the place, just pay to park the RV over night. Wow. "Save a dollar, save a dime"! This looks excellent, and we're counting the days until we plug into their electricity! :) .............also, if anyone is in dire need of a getaway.... you're quite welcome to join us. The more the merrier, eh?
"Something's Coming, Something Good" one of our favorite lines, and it certainly applies to this situation. One of the best parts of this picnic basket unpacking is the banner, which reminds us of the banner that lives in OUR picnic basket! I didn't even know that was a THING! Counting the days!

Not exactly sure what's going on here. I'm thinking Shelby is preparing to back up the Eldorado and wants to be sure all her mooring lines have been cast off? Maybe she's unhappy with how close the vehicle next to her is? Maybe someone left a Dunkin' Donuts bag showing in the back window of the vehicle adjacent? We may never know, but we'll give her 40 bonus points for being protective and attentive to task... whatever that might be.
See the gift, buy the gift, I always say. And that's always easier at Fletcher's Books and Antiques! This MASSIVE teapot is what Sheri got from us for Christmas, and she's already using it! It was impossible to resist. The oversized volume, knuckle handle and smooth cobalt coloring made it perfect for her. We love it when a gift hit's the target in the center!
I love the weather this time of year. Long pants, real belts, nice shirts and a jacket to hide yer gun. Viva Autumn!
So, tonight's book club book is interesting. Good vs. evil and some interesting stories from a former LA County Deputy. We'll see how it goes. The book was not what I expected, but really not all that bad, either! Enchiladas!
So, how can a guy who's apparently all smart and relatively well educated; a) not have a mustache comb for that mess on his face, and b) doesn't seem to EVER know where to look for his lamer-than-life selfies. Really? Nursing home patient confusion here! :)
We're grinding coffee today for happiness and hydration! Some mornings are tea mornings, and then some days are coffee-worthy. Praise God we live in a land of abundance and choice and can have either one! Usually, both of them at some point in the same day! God Bless America!
It's amazing to me that I spend 1/2 my summer dehydrated, based upon how much we discuss and show photos of beverages on this blog. Oh, wait, they're not all HYdrating beverages........now I get it! Enjoying my builder's tea this afternoon in an usual, insulated mug from Sarah and Otto which is really for wine, but works well for tea. Love the photo above, and if I had a kettle like that, I'd use it! Actually was thinking about sniffing out another Hall teapot in the same vein as our cherished one from Grandma T, but if it happens, it'll be a God-stumble kinda deal. Like we need more teapots around here? Really? We're one pot away from a Disney film!
so...this was completely me this morning after I originally got up, posted on the blog and collapsed again. Yikes. Snews-head! Better now, however. :)
Just a fun 1951 advertisement that is the first time I've seen that "See the USA" was actually already in use as a slogan this early. I've seen it for the 1955 models, and we know Dinah Shore crooned it so beautifully, but hadn't seen it for '51 until today! Super cool! EmmyLou rides into her 69th year of driving pleasure!
While last night's "Bertie and Elizabeth" was acceptable, if you have not seen "The King's Speech" ever, you must view it. Colin Firth is amazing, as is HBC and the entire cast. Beautifully done and we thought it was rather educational.

Is this just not the cutest picture, or what? Independence Pass, Colorado. July, 2020
..........and let's keep all that political sadness and crap right here in this circle. But notice how Sadness is actually on the line. Don't let people with broken ideas, negative auras or dumpy attitudes affect your Joy. (Just notice how much more Joy glows here than Sadness). Be like Joy.
Kind of excited to get dressed up for our book club event this month. Did I mention we have the coolest book club, evah?

You know you're going to the right bible study when the food is this plentiful and this delicious! :)
